Are you ever completely satisfied?

Imagine a sense of peace and calm that is unending. You want for nothing, you are completely happy and your life is perfect in every way. You are truly blessed.

You might think that no one feels like that. Perhaps you feel that you are never satisfied.
Well, perhaps no human feels like that, but God does.

God is blessed by being complete within himself. He has no needs; he cannot be needy in any way. There is nothing outside himself that would complete him. He is fully satisfied with himself, fully knows himself and loves himself. He is delighted with himself, conscious of him own perfection, truly self-satisfied and at rest. He is "the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light" (1 Tim 6:15-16; cf 1 Tim 1:11).

The kind of satisfaction we crave cannot be found in ourselves. We simply aren't designed to be self-satisfied, complete in ourselves. No amount of money or friends or success will lead to that kind of life. Our satisfaction can only come from God. And when Christ returns we will have perfect satisfaction in him for ever.

In the mean time it is no good trusting in earthly riches for in them there is no hope and they do not last:

"As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy." (1 Tim 6:17)
